What to do when a commercial door fails
If there has been a break-in
Call the police first and get an incident number. Insurers will ask for it. Photograph everything before clearing up, including the damaged door, frame and any glass on the floor. Then call us. Do not board it yourself with whatever is to hand; a poor board-up can damage the frame further and complicate the claim.
Keep the damaged hardware
A forced cylinder or snapped latch is evidence. Bag it rather than binning it.

If the door will not lock
