Aluminum Storefront & Glass
Aluminum Storefront Doors in Buffalo, NY
The front door is the first thing a customer touches. We supply, install and repair aluminum storefront entrances, sidelites and transoms across Buffalo, and replace the glass when someone puts a brick through it.
Commercial storefront entrances built for a Buffalo winter
Aluminum storefront is the glass-and-metal entrance system on the front of almost every retail unit, restaurant and office lobby. It is light, it takes heavy daily traffic, and it can be reglazed rather than replaced when the glass goes.
The detail that matters most in this climate is the thermal break. An insulating barrier between the exterior and interior aluminum. Without it, cold conducts straight through the frame, and you get condensation, frost rings on the inside of the frame and contraction that eventually cracks the glazing seal. We specify thermally broken systems as the default for Buffalo, not as an upgrade.
We handle the full range: new entrances on fit-outs, like-for-like replacement of racked or corroded systems, ADA operator retrofits, and emergency glass replacement after a break-in.
Stile Widths
Narrow, medium and wide stile entrances
The stile is the vertical rail on each side of the door. Its width determines both the look and what hardware the door can carry.
Narrow Stile
The slimmest frame and the most glass. A clean, modern look for boutiques and offices, but limited on which locks and panic devices will fit.
Medium Stile
The practical middle ground. Accepts most standard commercial hardware including panic devices, and suits the majority of retail entrances.
Wide Stile
The widest rails and the strongest door. Required for high-traffic entrances, heavy panic hardware and openings that take real abuse.
Sidelites & Transoms
Fixed glass panels beside and above the door, matched to the same frame system, that widen an entrance without widening the swing.

How much does a storefront door cost in Buffalo, NY?
Ranges for common Western New York jobs, from a single glass replacement to a full entrance.
Glass replacement only
Reglazing an existing sound frame with insulated tempered safety glass. The usual fix after a break-in or a failed seal.
Single door replacement
A new aluminum leaf and frame with standard hardware, fitted into an existing storefront opening.
Full entrance system
A complete thermally broken entrance with pair of doors, sidelites, transom and hardware. ADA operators are additional.
What moves the price:
stile width, thermal break, glass type and Low-E coating, sidelites and transoms, anodized or painted finish, panic hardware, ADA operators, and whether the existing frame can be reused.Owner’s Guide
Storefront problems and what they actually mean
The door drags or will not latch
Usually the door has dropped or the frame has racked out of square. On aluminum entrances this is normally a pivot, hinge or closer issue rather than a reason to replace the whole system. It is worth fixing early, because a dragging door wears the threshold and eventually the frame.
Frost or condensation inside the frame
That is the signature of a frame with no thermal break, conducting cold straight through the aluminum. It is not a glass problem and cleaning will not fix it. The long-term answer is a thermally broken replacement system.
Fogging between the panes
The insulated glass unit has lost its seal. The glass can be replaced without touching the frame, which is a comparatively cheap repair, and the sooner it is done, the less chance the moisture damages the glazing pocket.
Broken glass after a break-in
Call the emergency line first. We board the opening the same day so the premises are secure and trading, then return with the correct insulated tempered unit once it is cut. Tempered glass cannot be cut to size on site, so a temporary board-up is almost always part of the sequence.
Document it for insurance
Photograph the damage before anything is cleared. We provide written repair documentation that supports a claim.
Photograph the whole frame, not just the glass
Insurers frequently query frame damage later. Wide shots of the full opening save an argument weeks down the line.
Does the entrance meet ADA?
Four things get checked: clear opening width, threshold height, opening force and hardware reach. Older Buffalo storefronts frequently fail on opening force and threshold height. Both are usually fixable without replacing the entrance.

Frequently Asked Questions
Storefront doors and glass: frequently asked questions
Yes. If the aluminum frame is square, sound and not the cause of the problem, reglazing is far cheaper than replacing the system. If the frame is racked or corroded, replacement is the better long-term fix.
A thermally broken frame has an insulating barrier between the exterior and interior aluminum so cold cannot conduct straight through. In Buffalo that means less condensation, less frost on the frame, and a frame that does not contract enough to crack the glazing seal.
We board up the same day so the premises stay secure. Tempered safety glass has to be cut to size at the plant, so the permanent reglaze typically follows within a few days.
The stile is the vertical rail at each side of the door. Narrow stile shows the most glass but limits hardware options. Medium stile accepts most commercial hardware. Wide stile is the strongest and is used for high-traffic entrances and heavy panic devices.
Yes. Low-energy automatic operators can be retrofitted to most existing aluminum storefront entrances, with push-plate or wave-sensor actuation.
Glass-only replacement runs roughly $450 to $1,200 per panel. A single door replacement is $2,000 to $4,500. A complete entrance with sidelites and transom generally starts around $5,000 and rises with size and hardware.
Storefront damaged or draughty?
Same-day board-up, then a permanent fix.
